SELF-DEFENCE FOR WOMEN: RECOGNISE, DECIDE, GET AWAY
On 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, spend two hours with instructor Sabina learning how to recognise danger, set your own boundaries and get to safety
To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, on Wednesday 25 November the Ambrosiano Tennis Club is hosting a self-defence workshop exclusively for women.
This is not a course on how to fight: it is a practical programme designed to help you listen to your intuition, recognise danger in advance, say ‘no’ clearly and get to safety. Confrontation is always the last resort.
“The course does not teach you how to fight, but how to recognise danger in advance and get to safety. Confrontation is always the last resort.”
THE PROGRAMME
Introduction: each participant introduces themselves and shares their expectations, to build a sense of trust.
Awareness and intuition: tuning into the gut feeling that signals danger and learning to read everyday situations, from returning home to using public transport, right through to parking.
Body, voice and distance: posture, use of the voice, managing personal space, and clear, firm ways of saying ‘no’.
Escape techniques: a few simple techniques for breaking free from a hold, suitable for all ages and all levels of fitness.
Role-plays: short scenarios based on real-life situations, carried out in complete safety.
Closing: a final circle where everyone shares what they’re taking away from the session.
